While we've already discussed how acupuncture has been proven to improve memory, we can also add how exercise can improve memory. Specifically, recent studies measured subject's "High-Interference Memory" by comparing groups who went through high-intensity exercise for six weeks and those who were more sedentary. The fitness group scored consistently higher on memory tests. The group that had greater fitness gains also experienced much greater increases in brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that supports the growth, function and survival of brain cells. The implications that this could have on aging populations could be huge.
